Test Taking Anxiety

When it comes to causes of teenage stress, test taking anxiety and exams would have to rank fairly high on the list.  I know I used to get myself so worked up emotionally prior to and during exams that I couldn’t think clearly.

I had all the physical symptoms of stress –

  • pounding heart;

  • sickness in the stomach;

  • nervousness;

  • tension in my neck and shoulders;

Quite often all that “emotional static” really affected my results.

Does that sound like you?  Do you suffer with any of the above physical symptoms of stress and test anxiety before or during exams?

Well if you do, my self help for anxiety tips may be just what you need to put your anxiety to rest once and for all!

Steps to Overcoming Test Anxiety

If you have a test coming up that is making you anxious, just working on the physical symptoms of stress such as those I mentioned above should provide excellent results.

For example, an EFT script or set up phrase that covers the uncomfortable physical symptoms could be something like:

“Even though I have this test taking anxiety and I can feel it in my body – I feel sick to the stomach, my heart is pounding and I can feel the nervous tension in my neck and shoulders, I want to accept myself and my feelings anyway.”

  1. Amend the above statement to reflect how you’re feeling and remember to take an intensity level between 0-10 before you begin.

  2. Then simply repeat your set up statement 3 times while you continuously tap on the karate chop point.

  3. Next do one or two rounds tapping through the EFT points as you repeat the reminder phrase “test taking anxiety” at each point.

  4. Reassess your level of intensity and apply another round of EFT if needed until you’re at a 0.

Your breathing will also be affected, so these breathing and relaxation techniques may also be helpful.
